Your itinerary
Welcome to Bangkok
Arrive in Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital. After clearing the airport, transfer to your hotel and take the rest of the day to rest and settle in.
Depending on your arrival time, head out to explore the neighbourhood, taste your first street food or unwind with a traditional Thai massage. The adventure begins.
Bangkok City Tour
Begin the day with a boat ride along the river to Bangkok’s historic center, passing the lively flower market of Pak Khlong Talat. Visit the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), followed by a walk to Wat Pho, home of the iconic Reclining Buddha.
Cross the river by ferry to reach Wat Arun, the famous Temple of Dawn. The experience ends with a private long-tail boat ride along the Chao Phraya River, exploring Bangkok’s canals and local riverside life — the “Venice of the East”.
Fly North to Chiang Mai
This morning we fly north to Chiang Mai, the cultural capital of northern Thailand — a city wrapped in mountains, ancient temples and an authentic soul that quickly wins you over.
Settle into your hotel and take time to rest and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of the old city before we start exploring the north.
Markets & Temples: Discovering Chiang Mai
Today we discover the essence of Chiang Mai, blending local life, nature and spirituality. We begin at the lively Mueang Mai Market, where locals shop for fresh produce, then continue to the famous Warorot Market, a vibrant hub of local goods, textiles and traditional food.
Later we take the Monk’s Trail, a jungle path traditionally walked barefoot by monks, leading up to the peaceful Wat Pha Lat and on to Doi Suthep, one of Chiang Mai’s most iconic temples, with sweeping views over the whole city.
In the evening, enjoy the city’s easy-going atmosphere — a riverside drink, good food and live music.
Doi Inthanon & Baan Pa Pong Piang
An early start to head into the mountains. Our first stop is Mae Chaem, one of the most authentic and least touristy areas of the country, surrounded by mountains, forests and rice fields.
We explore Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand’s highest peak, discovering the spectacular Royal Twin Pagodas and panoramic viewpoints. Along the way we stop at some of the park’s most beautiful waterfalls — Mae Klang, Wachirathan and Sirithan — and, if you like, we can add a one-hour trek through the lush forest.
Later we reach Baan Pa Pong Piang, a small village famous for its stunning rice terraces — during the green season the landscape turns into a vast mosaic of colour. Tonight we stay in a traditional family house among the rice paddies, a privileged setting to disconnect and listen to the sounds of nature.
Karen Life: Traditions, Cooking & Mountains
After breakfast we head deeper into the mountains to a small village of the Karen community in Mae Chaem, where time seems to stand still and silence, nature and calm take over.
In the afternoon we share everyday life with local families — walking through the gardens and plantations, learning about what they grow and gathering fresh vegetables for the evening. We then take part in a traditional Karen cooking class, preparing typical dishes with local ingredients and recipes passed down through generations, before sharing dinner together.
To end the day, the village schoolchildren perform a traditional Karen dance — a beautiful way to discover their culture, music and traditions.
Ban Rak Thai
We wake surrounded by the silence of the mountains. After a homemade breakfast, a local guide leads us on a short 20-minute walk to a hidden waterfall in the forest. Before leaving, we take part in the traditional Karen hand-tying ceremony, an ancestral ritual in which village elders tie a white thread around your wrist as a symbol of protection, good luck and safe travels.
We then continue north to Ban Rak Thai, a mountain village near the Myanmar border founded by Yunnanese Chinese settlers. With its traditional houses, tea plantations and a lake at its heart, it feels like a corner of China in the Thai mountains. In the afternoon, stroll the village, take a boat ride on the lake and enjoy local tea and cuisine.
Pai
After breakfast we continue to Pai, a small mountain town known for its relaxed, creative atmosphere surrounded by nature. Our first stop is Wat Phra That Mae Yen, one of Pai’s most iconic temples, with lovely views over the valley. We also walk the Kho Ku So Bamboo Bridge across the rice fields and take in the scenery from the famous Yun Lai Viewpoint.
Spend the day discovering the town’s more alternative, bohemian side — quiet corners, local artists and live music. As evening falls, wander Pai’s street-food night market to taste some of the best local dishes in a lively setting.
Back to Chiang Mai
After breakfast we visit Pai Canyon, with time for a short walk and one last look at the spectacular landscapes of the north. Enjoy a relaxed stroll through the streets of Pai and a final coffee before we set off.
In the afternoon we return to Chiang Mai for a last evening in the north — a stroll through the night market and the old town before tomorrow’s journey south to the islands.
South to Surat Thani
Today we leave the mountains behind and fly south to Surat Thani, the gateway to the islands of the Gulf of Thailand. On the way to the coast we can discover some of the city’s temples and its relaxed southern atmosphere.
We spend the night here so that, first thing tomorrow, we can catch the ferry to Koh Tao and begin the island part of the journey.
Koh Tao: The Turtle Island
An early ferry takes us across to Koh Tao, the “Turtle Island” — one of the best places in Thailand for snorkelling and diving, thanks to its crystal-clear waters, coral reefs and marine life.
After settling in, there’s time to relax on the beach, take a first swim and watch the sunset. From here, the pace slows right down.
Free Days on Koh Tao
Two full days to enjoy Koh Tao at your own pace. Discover its most beautiful beaches, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, hike up to a viewpoint or simply relax by the sea with a good coffee or a sunset cocktail.
Take an optional boat trip to nearby Koh Nang Yuan, explore quiet coves by kayak or scooter, or try diving — Koh Tao is one of the most popular and affordable places in the world to get certified (optional, arranged locally). Time to slow down and soak up island life.
Back to Bangkok
Enjoy a last morning by the sea before we begin the journey back. We take the ferry to Surat Thani and fly on to Bangkok, arriving in the evening.
Tonight we stay at a 3-star hotel near the airport, ready for tomorrow’s departure — with time, if you like, for one last Thai dinner or massage.
See You Soon, Thailand
Our journey through Thailand comes to an end. Depending on your flight time, enjoy a relaxed final morning before your transfer to the airport.
We hope this trip has given you unforgettable memories — from the temples of Bangkok and the mountains of the north to the turquoise waters of Koh Tao. Until the next adventure!
