Hidden deep in the forest of Si Lanna National Park, north of Chiang Mai, Bua Thong Waterfall — better known as the Sticky Waterfall — is one of Thailand’s most surprising natural spots. The secret is in the rock itself. The water comes from a nearby spring rich in calcium carbonate, a mineral that coats the stone and leaves a rough, porous surface much like limestone. That texture gives an extraordinary grip — close to fine sandpaper — so climbing barefoot is easy even with the water flowing.
