Hi! We are Laura & Yak, founders of Banjai Trips. Laura has been living in Chiang Mai, Thailand, since 2022, and has worked in the tourism industry for several years.
During this time, she met incredible local people (including Yak) and discovered many small rural businesses that struggle to gain online visibility or compete with larger tourism companies. Yak is from Surin, Thailand, and has been living in Chiang Mai for over 20 years. He is an artist who creates incredible sculptures for temples and museums.
Through our own journey exploring Thailand, we realized how many authentic experiences remain hidden — not because they lack charm or quality, but because they lack access to marketing tools and a modern web presence.
That’s why we created Banjai Trips: to connect travelers with genuine, local experiences while helping small Thai businesses grow and share their culture with the world.
Our goal is to support the local economy and invite visitors to discover Thailand through a closer, more authentic perspective — one that celebrates real people, real stories, and the heart of this beautiful country. We also aim to create our own activities in collaboration with local and nearby communities, promoting authentic experiences and supporting local artisans and residents.
