Ayutthaya

Today we leave Bangkok and make our way toward Ayutthaya, starting with a visit to the elegant Bang Pa-In Royal Palace. Built in the 17th century and later restored in the 19th century, this summer residence blends Thai and European architectural styles set among beautifully landscaped gardens.

From there, we board a traditional boat for a scenic journey along the river toward Ayutthaya. This peaceful cruise offers a glimpse of everyday Thai life along the water-wooden houses on stilts, barges transporting rice to Bangkok, and temple spires rising in the distance.
To explore Ayutthaya’s vast historical area more comfortably and at your own pace, the most practical option is to visit with an audio guide, allowing you to learn about each site while walking freely through the ancient ruins.

Upon arrival in Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam, we begin discovering its most iconic temples. We visit the Wat Mahathat, known for the famous Buddha head entwined in tree roots, followed by Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, once the royal temple of the old palace. We end with Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, home to a monumental reclining Buddha and an impressive chedi dominating the grounds.

Before returning to Bangkok, we stop for lunch at a local Thai restaurant overlooking the river. This meal is not included, giving you the freedom to choose from a variety of regional dishes.

After lunch, we make our way back to Bangkok, ending a day filled with history, cultural heritage and beautiful river scenery.
